Prime Quality (See what I did there?) article on the advent of a pandemic.

One of the few pieces of writing I’ve seen in the last few weeks that even mentions that this flu is not a new phenomenon. The medical establishment has been aware of the dangers of this strain since the late `90s, when it developed in factory farms in North Carolina.

Now, by the way, is the perfect time for me to very clearly say “fuck you” to the racist idiots calling this “Mexican Flu.” This is not “Mexican Flu.” It’s “Factory-Farm Flu” and North Carolina doesn’t seem particularly foreign to me.

This has been a transition, in essence, from old-fashioned pig pens to vast excremental hells, unprecedented in nature, containing tens, even hundreds of thousands of animals with weakened immune systems, suffocating in heat and manure, while exchanging pathogens at blinding velocity with their fellow inmates and pathetic progenies.
